Windows app · local version history
An undo button for your files.
You know the moment: you saved over the wrong thing, or an agent rewrote half a document, or a bulk rename ate a folder. File Guardian keeps a local history of the files in folders you protect — so the next "undo" actually reaches back in time.
Get it on the Microsoft StoreHow it works
- 1Choose one folder to protect. Every subfolder inside is included.
- 2It snapshots immediately, then again within seconds of each save — automatically, on your PC.
- 3When an edit goes wrong, open the file timeline and restore an earlier version. Your current content is saved before every restore, so you can always go back again.
- 4Before risky bulk changes, save the whole folder state in Settings and roll back the entire folder later if needed.

The details that matter day to day
- Plain text and Markdown can be viewed and compared side by side in the app. Word (.docx) previews in-app. Excel, PowerPoint, PDF restore and open with your default applications.
- It stays out of the way. Closing the window keeps protection running in the system tray; optional start-with-Windows lives in Settings.
- All data stays on this computer. Your documents are not uploaded to our servers — there is no upload path in the product.
- Built by CodingGroup, the same small studio behind PlateWipe. Small, human, reachable.
